Hooded owl
What do you attest to?
Tell us old friend,
among us, you stand,
between us we discern.

I am the witness,
of wary founders.
At night navigating
by signals and motives.
At day devising
by graces and bearings.
Secret creatures
far from crowds
dreaming visions
ready to play.

I am the witness,
of remote trees.
Always enduring
with firmness and drive.
Always reaching
with valour and mettle.
Quiet figures
beyond view
painting shadows
ready to recover.

I am the witness,
of unscathed maidens.
In courts pondering
on hope and friendship.
In gardens lingering
on roses and butterflies.
Simple doves
frightened by hunters
bathing bodies
ready to seal.

I am the witness,
of ordinary spaces.
In waiting laying
to be repleted.
Amid the common
to be seen.
Refreshing wellsprings
forsaken by most
flowing honey
ready to perfect.

I am the witness,
of unsung mysteries.
Ignored for fancies
pursued by traders.
Neglected by eyes
for flimsy prides.
The dazzling nameless
ever alluring.
The Witness of scapegoats
never ready to say enough!

I stand in my witness,
camouflaged in the fridges.

And you furry lion,
what do you attest to?
